Capacity Guidelines

30-40L: Overnight trips, ultralight setups, day hiking
40-55L: Weekend trips, most thru-hikers with dialed gear
55-70L: Extended trips, winter gear, heavier loads
70L+: Expedition use, cold weather, multi-week trips

Weight vs. Comfort Trade-off

Ultralight packs (<3 lbs) sacrifice some comfort features. If you carry 25+ lbs, a heavier pack with better suspension may actually feel lighter on your back.

Fit Is Everything
